Crazy People

Only in Citrus..

Well, it’s Monday morning, and here I am again slaving away with work.  You see, I own a small business (no, I’m not going to say what sort of business, but I will tell you that we’re a service company), and that I absolutely love Mondays.  Can you hear the sarcasm in my typing?

Why do I love Mondays so much you ask?

I love Mondays because Mondays are the days that my clients all decide to call and complain about everything they’re unhappy with.  Their miserable, boring weekends are my fault, and they decide to get revenge.

On this particular Monday, I received a phone call from a somewhat local client (about an hour and a half away), threatening to sue me, report me to the BBB, and all sorts of other yummy things.  You see, this local client purchased a $4500 product from us, and neglected to mention exactly what he wanted from that product.  Clients in Central Florida do not understand the term, “Scope of Work”, like the techie clients in San Francisco or Boston understand it.  If halfway through the project the client asks for something that they didn’t ORIGINALLY ask for, then BAM – additional fees are implied.

I think it’s funny.  This client makes over $60,000 per week using the product that we sold them, and they’re threatening to take me to court for an additional $200 fee.  I think his name is Joe.  He spells it, “D-u-m-b-a-s-s.”
