Only in Citrus County Would We Think That Crackers Is Dangerous!

Hi, all!

Buster here, the crazy guy who started this site. It’s pretty cool that we have over 3500 members now. Citrus County ROCKS!

That said, while we can’t for one minute really believe that Crackers is actually dangerous, there is definitely something going on with people’s credit cards in Citrus County. After I heard about people’s stolen credit cards being linked to Crackers, I knew I had to get involved. I spoke to Emily Zastrow (the manager of Crackers) on the phone a few moments ago, and she was very up front about what is going on at Crackers. Here’s the story straight from the horse’s mouth.

While Crackers does not know anything definite yet, they do admit that they have known about these credit card issues since last Wednesday. Apparently, a previous customer called Crackers saying that she had fraudulent credit card charges billed to her card in Miami. The same day, Emily received a text message from another Crackers manager about a bartender who had served her own husband a drink. The bartender’s husband paid with a credit card. His wife, the bartender, ran his credit card as she always would have with any other customer. The husband later found out that his card also had fraudulent charges in Miami. Thursday and Friday, they received more calls, and also are having more calls this week.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wife steal a credit card number from her husband, so I doubt she really had anything to do with the fraudulent charges. Or did she? After all, this is Citrus County. (hehe)

Anyway, Crackers investigated and contacted everyone they could. Here’s who they brought in:

Their IT guy
Their credit card processing company
The local police (I think Emily said this, but I wasn’t sure)
A third party company was also hired to try to hack into their credit card servers to check for security holes (none were found)

No one could find any smoking guns or red flags.

So what’s really going on here?

Well, here are the possibilities (leave a comment if you can think of anything else):

Crackers somehow has an employee that is stealing credit card information.
The third party company was wrong, and someone really was able to hack Cracker’s credit card data.
Another Citrus County establishment has been stealing credit card information, and Crackers was mistakenly pointed out as the culprit.
Zombies are invading.

Clearly something is going on with Citrus County residents having fraudulent credit card charges, and I definitely believe that these people had all visited Crackers within a certain period of time. But did all of these people visit the Shell Station, or did they all Visit Walgreens as well? No one knows who to point fingers at yet – Crackers is merely following protocol in this investigation. They are being very up front and clear about the circumstances and are willing to give anyone updates at any time.

So what’s the solution? How can Citrus County protect itself from identity theft?

Unfortunately, there isn’t one right now. The only way to remain 100% safe is to drive to the bank, wait in line, withdraw cash, and use your cash everywhere you go in Citrus County. I know I’m not going to use my credit card this weekend. Leave a comment below if you’re still going to use yours.
